Description
Cactus imbricatus, Cereus imbricatus, Grusonia imbricata, Cylindropuntia Imbricata
Location: Opuntia can be planted as a pot plant in a sunny spot on the terrace or balcony, some can also be permanently planted in the garden, but always well drained.
Most Long-Spined Prickly Pear can tolerate quite a bit of frost provided they are out of the rain.
Flowering season: Spring to summer
Care: Water regularly during the growth period, but make sure you have a well-drained potting soil, preferably with sand and gravel. Keep the plant dry during the winter period.
Fertilization: The plant comes from a region with little nutrition, fertilization is only needed to a limited extent.
Overwintering: This is best done in a dry, cool place with sufficient light. Completely hardy species can be left outside in the garden, provided rain protection.
