Description
Tasmanian tree fern is an upright, up to 15 meters high fern also known as tree fern from the genus Dicksonia. The trunk is sturdy and covered with remains of old petioles. The trunk is covered at the top, as well as the leaf bases, with dense, long, brown hairs. The numerous, compound leaves are double- or triple-pinnate. Young leaves are rolled up and densely hairy.
The Tasmanian tree fern is endemic to Australia; more specifically south-east Queensland, the coastal areas of Victoria and New South Wales and in Tasmania. In the wild, this species is mainly found in areas with high humidity, along the beds of creeks, in gullies and sometimes at higher altitudes in cloud forests
