Description
The avocado (Persea americana) is a tree native to Central America. It is known for its eponymous edible fruit that is also known as eggnog pear. The name avocado comes from the Nahuatl word ahuacatl, which also means ‘testicle’.
Mexico is a major exporter of avocados. Numerous orchards are found in the region around the city of Uruapan.
