Description
Trithrinax campestris is the botanical name of a palm native to South America, from the plains of Argentina and western Uruguay. The plant is found along the watercourses and has very warm summers and sometimes cold winters.
It regularly forms a clump with three or four trunks, which grow up to 6 m high. The trunks bear the remains of the old leaves and have fibers, which form large spines. The leaves are green to greenish-grey. The inflorescences form sulphur-yellow flowers. The fruits are small and yellowish.
The palm can tolerate limestone soils and can withstand drought. The palm is hardy to -10 °C without damage
