Description
Cycas revoluta, also called “Cycas Palm”, “Narrow-leaved Sago Palm” or “Peace Palm” (the leaves were used on Palm Sunday), is a palm fern. At first glance, they look like palm-like little trees. However, they do not seem to be related to palms or ferns, but rather to conifers.
The species is also known fossil from the warmer mangrove forests in the Carboniferous period, where it lived on dry islands. It is found in East and Southeast Asia (Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia), India, Sri Lanka and Madagascar.
